Welcome to the Website of The Rotary Club of the Howe of Fife.

The leadership team for Rotary Year 2012-13 is all set for another busy and productive year. We are looking to raise significant sums of money throughout the year to benefit worthwhile causes in our local area, in other parts of the United Kingdom and internationally.

Cancer charities are once again likely to benefit from our activities. We contribute regularly to Cancer Research UK and support organisations that provide palliative care and support such as MacMillan, Marie Curie and Maggie’s Centres. CHAS is another cause dear to our hearts. We also support local organisations and activities and give out smaller amounts to individuals in the Howe to help in charitable projects.

The Rotary Foundation provides funding for international projects to promote understanding, goodwill and peace by improving health, education and alleviating poverty. Foundation runs specific funds for Disaster Recovery and the Eradication of Polio. Our annual contributions to the Rotary Foundation make up about half of what we commit overseas. Most of our remaining international spending is directed to Chimwemwe, a Children’s Centre in Malawi which gives support to children and their families suffering from or affected by HIV/AIDS. One of our members, Dr Amanda Fleet, is a co-founder of Chimwemwe, and her involvement with the organisation provides valuable feedback.

A brief browse through our website will show that I have done no more than provide a flavour of the many charities that our Club supports. It will also not escape your attention that we have a great deal of fun while fundraising, and there are even occasions when we just get together and enjoy ourselves.

If you would like to learn more about us, just come along any Tuesday evening to the Village Inn, Pitlessie. Talk to some of our members over a drink or join us for a meal. I promise you a warm welcome.

Sandy Davis

President 2012-13
